Alexander Makarov, who holds the chair of the Minister for Support of Small Business and the Consumer Market, said that the hotel room stock, which will appear in Nizhny Novgorod for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, will not be empty after the competition.

According to him, Nizhny Novgorod currently lacks about 2,500 hotel rooms, but their construction will definitely be completed by the start of the championship.

To the journalist's question: “Will the newly built hotel room stock be empty after the World Cup?” Makarov answered optimistically. The government already has a number of ideas on how to make Nizhny Novgorod an attractive destination for travelers not only from Russia, but also from all over the world. The plans include holding a huge number of various festivals and entertainment events, which will allow several times to increase the number of visitors to the city. Now Nizhny Novgorod, famous for its historical and architectural monuments, is visited by about a million travelers a year. The government, according to Makarov, was tasked with increasing this number to at least 3 million tourists.

We will remind, not so long ago, Valery Shantsev, who holds the post of governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, said that by 2018 it is planned to build more than 50 infrastructure facilities, as well as develop and implement 28 large-scale events. The main object is undoubtedly the 45,000-seat stadium Volga Arena... In addition, construction of comfortable sports facilities is underway, and the airport is being reconstructed. The project includes the opening of a new metro station in Nizhny Novgorod, the construction of hotel complexes and a significant improvement in the road and transport infrastructure.

At the very end of his press conference, Alexander Makarov noted that construction is proceeding on schedule, and there are no fears that any object will not be commissioned by the scheduled date.

Let us remind you that the FIFA World Cup is to be held in 11 cities of the Russian Federation. Guests from all over the world will come to the grandiose show in Russia. Nizhny Novgorod, according to Vitaly Mutko, who occupies the chair of the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, has enormous potential to host matches of the 1/8 and even 1/4 finals at its stadium.
